One Direction terbentuk pada tahun 2010 mereka terkenal sejak menjadi juara 3 di ajang pencarian bakat "The X Factor" Musim ke-7 (2010).

Biografi One Direction :
-One Direction merupakan boyband asal Inggris yang terdiri dari Niall James Horan, Zayn Javadd Malik, Liam James Payne, Harry Edward Styles dan Louis Wiliam Tomlinson. Mereka terbentuk setelah mengikuti ajang "The X Factor", 2010.

-Mulanya mereka mengikuti audisi sebagai penyanyi solo kategori "Boys", namun salah seorang juri Nicole scherzinger menyarankan mereka untuk membentuk boyband. Berkat saran tersebut kelima pemuda ini akhirnya membentuk boyband di bawah mentor simon cowell.
Nama One Direction diusulkan oleh Harry. Ia beranggapan bahwa nama tersebut akan terdengar hebat nantinya.

-Namun sayangnya, One Direction hanya mampu meraih juara 3 "The X Factor". Meskipun begitu, popularitas mereka menyebar dengan cepat di Inggris. Mereka disebut-sebut sebagai pemicu kebangkitan kembali era boyband di Eropa tahun 90-an seperti westlife.

-Lulus dari "The X Factor", One Direction kemudian menandatangani kontrak dengan perusahaan rekaman milik Simon Cowell, Syco Records dan Columbia Records. Tak berselang lama kemudian mereka merilis album debut yang bertajuk "Up All Night" (2011). Album tersebut sukses menjawarai berbagai chart di Inggris, Swedia dan sejumlah negara Eropa lainnya dengan single andalannya "What Makes You Beautiful". Mereka berhasil meraih berbagai penghargaan internasional seperti Best New Artist dan Best Pop Video di MTV VMA 2012 dan Global Success Awards di ajang BRIT Awards 2013 berkat album ini.

-Meski berasal dari Inggris, namun kepopuleran mereka ternyata sampai juga di Amerika Serikat. Ribuan penggemar memadati kawasan acara "The Today Show",ketika mereka melakukan debut di Amerika Serikat. Fenomena ini memicu istilah "British Invasion" di Amerika Serikat yang dulu juga pernah dipopulerkan oleh The Beatles.
Kepopuleran mereka yang tak biasa ini akhirnya mengilhami untuk mengadakan konser bertajuk "Up All Night" (2011). Konser ini dimulai dari Inggris lalu Australia dan Amerika Utara. Sepanjang konser mereka menyanyikan single-single andalan seperti "Gotta to You", "One Thing" dan "More Than This".

-One Direction kembali merilis album kedua yang bertajuk "Take Me Home" (2012). Single utama mereka yang berjudul "Live While We're Young" sukses menjawarai tangga lagu hampir setiap negara. Kesuksesan album ini juga diikuti tur konser dunia "Take Me Home Tour (2013). Konser ini digelar di Inggris, Irlandia, Amerika Utara, Australia dan selalu habis terjual.

-Kepopuleran mereka bahkan sampai di negara Asia termasuk Indonesia. Beberapa penggemar One Direction di Indonesia sering berulangkali meminta boyband kesayangan mereka untuk konser di Indonesia. Bahkan hastag#Indonesia Wants One Direction sering bertengger di Trending Topic Indonesia.

-Tak hanya itu saja, One Direction juga merilis film konser 3D yang bertajuk "One Direction : This Is Us". Film ini menceritakan tentang perjalanan hidup kelima anggota One Direction dari awal hingga sampai sukses.

- Masih di tahun yang sama, One Direction kembali merilis album ketiga mereka yang berjudul "Midnight Memories", 23 November 2013. Mereka juga mengadakan tour ketiga bertajuk "Where We Are" yang dimulai di Kolumbia, 25 April 2014

22. Harry makes a brief cameo appearance in Ed Sheeran’s first ‘Drunk’ video. It was filmed backstage at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

23. Harry says he would happily date a fan! When asked he said: “Yeah definitely, because if you like someone, you like someone. If they’re a fan it shouldn’t make any difference.”

24. Harry and Louis are the only two members of One Direction who have passed their driving test.

32. Zayn’s favourite song is ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson, Harry loves ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’ by Pink Floyd, Louis’ choice is ‘Look After You’ by The Fray while Niall’s is Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’. Liam prefers ‘Happy Birthday’ as it means he will open presents.

35. 1D would really love to collaborate with Bruno Mars. They told teen.com: “(He has) great songs, great stage presence, an unbelievable performer. His vocal is absolutely flawless.”

36. All the boys live within 100 yards of each other in London. Harry and Louis, who are apparently the messiest members of the band, share a house! We’d love to see the state of the place!
